“Stay punk and keep the rave”, a message from Héctor Oaks, our sonic shaman for Saturday February 22nd’s return to Cobalt Studios. Skew-Whiff is determined to provide a dynamic musical landscape that defies expectations, a clubbing environment that liberates you with it’s intensity, and a diversity of fellow dancers whose years “trained to the floor” propel you forward into a transcendent state & full body workout. Héctor Oaks (aka Cadency) is routinely playing the worlds most notoriously wild & passionate nightclubs, with Berlin’s inimitable Herrensauna and Tbilisi’s legendary Bassiani both making him their resident DJ. Such collectives and institutions are also of huge cultural significance, as sanctuaries where music and freedom of expression are truly at the heart of uniting minorities or oppressed communities. Hector’s commitment to them and vice versa, speaks to the conscience and heart of this incredibly gifted DJ, producer & label boss. His musical abilities transcend genre, ignore our hastily made pre-conceptions & never forget that essential selector’s ingredient ; a sense of fun & humour. Héctor will make you laugh and make you cry and make you lose yourself fully amongst the other bodies, gyrating to his mind-bending beat. We know he will thrive in the fully immersive atmosphere of the North East dancers!

Joining Hector will be another of techno’s most dedicated warriors, Ireland’s Jamie Behan. His party & label, Bastardo Electrico, has been serving up corkers to the people of Cork (sorry, I had to) & beyond for over 17 years. A regular at Berlin’s Killekill parties in Griessemuhle & ://about blank, it is his encyclopaedic knowledge of music that bangs and an innate ability to understand a dance floor well enough to challenge & excite us in equal measure, that makes Jamie such a prodigal talent. Undoubtedly another “DJ’s DJ” whose been keeping it real in the international techno community without caving to any bulls*** for a good while now, there is nobody else to complement Hector’s style and philosophy more than Jamie Behan.

As always, thank you to all of you who keep coming to and spreading the word about Skew-Whiff, to Cobalt Studios & Ernest who keep offering us the finest venues this city has to offer, with owners & staff we are proud to support. The tickets will be out in due course, as always with Skew-Whiff (and in fairness many other parties I know up here), they will be priced fairly according to a sell-out show = break even. No profit possible, so your respect for the ticket tiering is appreciated. There will be no guest-list, but if anyone has a real reason why they cannot afford to come to this party but want to do so, get in touch and I will do my best to help. There will be a no photos policy and a safer spaces policy in operation. To those that already understand and respect the healing and uniting powers of this music & culture that binds us, please trust that this party will be laser focussed on the details that make your session entirely worthy of the sweat and aches that follow. To those who are perhaps new to this style of “repetitive electronic beats”, please join us and keep your mind open, be excited about the journey we can all embark on together!

More details to follow in the build up to the party.
