The Dead Horse Gang are bringing innovator, rule breaker and scene maker, Luke Unabomber, over to grace the decks at Newcastle's Cobalt Studios.
Luke has made a distinguished contribution to the Manchester clubbing scene over the past three decades. In the mid '90s and early 2000s with DJ partner, Justin Unabomber, they ran the legenday clubbing institution ‘Electric Chair’; a night that broke all the rules during a turbulent time in Manchester's clubbing history. 'Electric Chair' won with a focus on eclecticism and togetherness at a time when the halcyon days of late 80s acid house were fading into memory and reports of gang violence were on the rise.
By succeeding in breaking convention, the popularity and longevity of ‘Electric Chair’ even spawned a number of off-shoot projects, such as the sublime ‘Electric Elephant’ festival in Croatia and several well-regarded mix compilations. Luke even co-founded the poly-sexual themed ‘Homoelectric’, which again tore up the rulebook with its defiant disregard of the entrenched gay club etiquette and music policies of the time. The ongoing success of ‘Homoelectric’ recently culminated in the hugely ambitious night of love and inclusivity in the form of the ‘Homobloc’ event in Manchester’s 10,000 capacity Mayfield Depot.
With his long-term contribution to Manchester club culture and his more recent success in helping to organise what was possibly the best UK clubbing event of 2019, The Dead Horse Gang are proud to be able to welcome Luke Unabomber to Cobalt Studios.
